![]() Amy House is one of Newfoundland´s most talented and prolific comediennes. Her background is theatre and despite Amy´s talents as a dramatic actress, it is through the sidesplitting humour of this remarkable tour de force that she remains forever known among audiences as one hilarious comic, with an irrepressible fondness for improvisation. The darling of the private-party circuit, her flamboyant and colourful characters often pay a visit to conventions, dinner parties, weddings, conferences, and any other gatherings of more than two people. For the last six years Amy has been the Artistic Animateur for the Resource Centre for the Arts Theatre Company at the LSPU Hall in St. John´s Newfoundland. Amy has played principal roles in several productions of Eve Ensler´s Obie-award-winning The Vagina Monologues. Her original one-woman shows include: The Seven Faces of Amy with Maxim Mazumdar, ´Tis Not Human, her children´s show To Be What You Want To Be, most recently Scratch and Pull. Audiences will also remember the two-handers A Tidy Package and One Unforgettable Night with Two Unforgettable Dames with long-time writing/performing partner Berni Stapleton. Amy´s name is synonymous with Catherine Banks´ one-woman show Bitter Rose, as she played the title role in four separate productions, a production for BRAVO TV´s Singular Series. Amy also played leading roles in RCA Theatre Company´s sold out productions of No Mummers Allowed In and High Steel at the LSPU Hall in St. John´s. Amy´s newest one-woman show Scratch and Pull is about the fictional Connaigre Peninsula community of Nestle Cove and the people there who depend largely on bingo and scratch tickets to give their life meaning and pleasure. Scratch and Pull features a bakers dozen of Amy´s colorful characters and will be presented at the LSPU Hall in St. John´s Newfoundland, from January 17 − 20, 2008. |
